AMPYAN News Desk The Delhi Government has approved EV Policy 2.0, aiming to accelerate electric vehicle adoption and reduce air pollution in the capital. The new policy will come into effect from July 1, 2026, with several incentives and phased changes planned over the coming years. Key Highlights ✅ Road tax and registration fee waived for eligible electric vehicles. ✅ Electric two-wheelers may receive purchase incentives under the policy. ✅ From 2027, only electric auto-rickshaws will be eligible for new registrations. ✅ From 2028, registration of new petrol and CNG two-wheelers is planned to be phased out in Delhi. Industry Response Automobile manufacturers have welcomed the policy, calling it a significant step toward faster EV adoption and cleaner urban mobility. However, delivery partners and gig workers have requested additional financial support to make the transition to electric vehicles more affordable. AMPYAN Take Delhi EV Policy 2.0 is one of India’s most ambitious clean mobility initiatives. While it could boost EV sales and improve air quality, its long-term success will depend on charging infrastructure, affordability, and adequate support for commercial vehicle owners and gig workers adapting to the new rules.
