India’s compact SUV segment continued to witness strong demand in April 2026, with several popular models posting impressive sales numbers. According to industry sales data, Maruti Suzuki Fronx emerged as the highest-selling sub-4 metre SUV of the month, narrowly staying ahead of Tata Nexon. The segment remains one of the most competitive in the Indian automobile market as buyers continue to prefer compact SUVs for their practicality, higher seating position, and feature-rich offerings. ⸻ Fronx Takes the Top Spot Maruti Suzuki Fronx secured the first position with sales of around 18,800 units during April 2026. Its coupe-inspired styling, fuel-efficient engine options, and strong dealership reach continue to attract urban buyers. Tata Nexon followed closely with sales crossing 18,000 units. The Nexon remains popular due to its safety reputation, multiple powertrain options, and strong road presence. ⸻ Brezza and Venue Continue Strong Performance Maruti Suzuki Brezza maintained stable demand with more than 14,000 unit sales during the month. Hyundai Venue also remained among the top-selling compact SUVs with sales above 12,000 units. Kia Sonet secured another strong month with over 10,000 units sold, helped by its premium cabin experience and feature-loaded variants. ⸻ Mahindra, Skoda and Toyota in Mid Segment Mahindra XUV 3XO continued to build momentum in the market with sales crossing 7,500 units. The SUV has gained attention for its updated design, technology features, and turbo-petrol engine options. Skoda Kylaq and Toyota Taisor also remained part of the segment rankings, although with comparatively lower volumes. ⸻ Nissan and Renault Continue in Affordable Segment Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger continued targeting budget-focused buyers in the compact SUV space.
